Green Philantrophy

This program represented a funding and capacity development initiative, focused on strengthening the financial sustainability of environmental NGOs in Romania by enhancing their fundraising capacity.

Implemented in partnership with the Association for Community Relations  and benefiting from funding from the Trust for Civil Society in Central and Eastern Europe, the program fundamentally aimed to strengthen the financial sustainability of environmental NGOs in Romania.

Through this initiative, we set the following objectives:

  • Increasing the capacity of environmental NGOs to attract community funds.
  • Developing the experience of environmental organizations in the field of fundraising.
  • Stimulating the implementation of effective fundraising methods, addressed to both individual donors and companies.
  • Encouraging the philanthropic behavior of citizens, oriented towards environmental causes.

The program was launched in January 2010 and involved two distinct phases for applicant organizations.
Initially, they submitted letters of intent, and subsequently, the coordinators of selected projects participated in training sessions held by resource mobilization specialists from the Community Relations Association.
After gaining knowledge, organizations were invited to draft their final funding requests.
The program was a real success, providing total funds of $92,400 (equivalent in RON), with the possibility of requesting funding of up to 29,000 RON/project.

Funding was granted to environmental non-governmental organizations with adequate experience in implementing programs and projects benefiting our environment.
